Job Responsibilities:
As the Associate Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives and Partnership Development, Kay is responsible for the development of strategic distance education initiatives, alliances and partnerships, including grantsmanship in support of DELTA’s and NC State’s Land Grant educational outreach mission. Strategic partnership development includes structuring critical initiatives and alliance with other academic, research, and commercial entities to leverage the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of NCSU’s distance education and instructional technology programs.
Bio:
Kay Zimmerman has an extensive technology based background from higher education, corporate technology management, and distance education experience. Kay previously served as Vice President of an independently owned educational technology company, and has also held positions in a Fortune 500 company as a corporate publishing executive, Florida State University instructor and College Department Chair.
Her broad and dynamic background in building resources encompasses the entire spectrum from corporate partnerships to multi-source funding opportunities. Having been a teacher herself, Kay has an extensive network of public and private contacts, but also a real understanding of the needs of the educator in a higher education setting. Kay’s professional goal is to provide the significant, appropriate solutions, which will support the educational mission of a research university and the ever-changing learning and technology environment.
